Jeanfrançois Prins’ Ensemble Jazz workshop brings together a wide range of techniques, initiations to various styles and means of expression that are aimed at the rhythm section as well as solo instruments – including voices – to achieve a coherent ensemble playing where everyone communicates and creates a synergy of action where emulation is omnipresent so that the melody, Improvisation, form, poly-rhythms and arrangements created for/by the group intermingle in the joy of music sharing.
After having directed the jazz guitar departments of the two Berlin music conservatories for a dozen years, where he also taught numerous ensembles, as well as theoretical classes such as Jazz History and Practical Ear Training, and workshops and master classes throughout Europe, the United States, Latin America and Asia, Jeanfrançois continues his career as an international soloist and is again based in Belgium, where he is happy to share all these rich experiences with his students.
As a guitarist, Jeanfrançois has always also taught singers as well as students playing instruments other than the guitar. He has extensive experience working with students from other backgrounds such as classical, rock, Latin music etc. who want to deepen their knowledge of improvisation, jazz interpretation, accompaniment and many other topics.

L’atelier Ensemble Jazz de Jeanfrançois Prins réunit un grand nombre de techniques, d’initiations à divers styles et moyens d’expression qui s’adressent aussi bien à la section rythmique qu’aux instruments solistes – voix y compris – pour arriver à un jeux d’ensemble cohérent et où tous communiquent et créent une synergie d’action où l’émulation est omniprésente pour que la mélodie,l’improvisation, la forme, les poly-rythmes et les arrangements créés pour/par le groupe s’entre-mèlent dans la joie du partage de la musique.
Après avoir dirigé pendant une douzaine d’années les sections guitare jazz des deux conservatoires de Berlin où il enseignait également de nombreux ensembles, ainsi que des classes théoriques comme l’Histoire du Jazz et le “Practical Ear Training”, ainsi que des workshops et master-classes dans toute l’Europe, les États-Unis, ainsi qu’en Amérique Latine et en Asie, Jeanfrançois continue sa carrière de soliste international et est à nouveau basé en Belgique, où il est heureux de partager toutes ces riches expériences avec ses élèves.
Guitariste, Jeanfrançois a toujours aussi enseigné des élèves chanteurs.euses ou jouant d’autres instruments que la guitare. Il a une grande expérience du travail avec des élèves venant d’autres “backgrounds” comme le classique, le rock, la musique latine etc. et qui veulent approfondir leurs connaissances sur l’improvisation, l’interprétation jazz, l’accompagnement et bien d’autres sujets.
