World class Vocalist Caroline Mhlanga has a warm, rich and full voice, which can express all human emotions with rare depth and fluidity. She presents a wide repertoire from gospel to blues, swing and contemporary jazz to soul, R’nB and Afro-pop together with two dear friends of hers with whom she has shared the stage countless times: German top saxophonist Ulli Jünemann and Belgian jazz guitar master Jeanfrançois Prins

Caroline grew up in Germany in a very musical family (her uncle Louis Mhlanga, a worldwide famous guitarist and his wife Sarah both toured with Miriam Makeba among many others, William Mhlanga was a sought-after drummer, and her father Carroll “Shaft” Mhlanga plays an inspired, very percussive Hammond organ. The Mhlanga name is synonymous with great musicianship in Zimbabwe and throughout South Africa.

Ms. Mhlanga started performing at the age of 14, and from the age of 16, she has been in high demand as a soloist in Gospel Choirs, then toured with shows such as “Jamboree Singers”, “Gospel Shout”, “Gumbo Ya Ya” (tribute to Jelly Roll Morton), the “Tribute to Ray Charles Show”, etc.
Starting her solo concert career in 2006, she released two acclaimed solo albums, “Black Music Classics”, and “Indigo and Other Moods”, while always remaining in demand as a guest soloist for numerous projects.

Caroline Mhlanga has performed in concert halls, and in many small and big jazz clubs and cellars from Frankfurt to Hamburg, in Paris, Krakow, Maribor, Copenhagen. This will be her first performance in Brussels.

Elle présente un vaste répertoire allant du gospel au blues, du swing et du jazz contemporain à la soul, R’nB et à l’afro-pop, en compagnie de deux amis très chers avec lesquels elle a partagé la scène d’innombrables fois : Le saxophoniste allemand de haut niveau Ulli Jünemann et le grand guitariste de jazz belge Jeanfrançois Prins.

Caroline a grandi en Allemagne dans une famille très musicale (son oncle Louis Mhlanga, un guitariste mondialement connu, et sa femme Sarah ont tous deux tourné avec Miriam Makeba, entre autres, William Mhlanga était un batteur recherché, et son père Carroll “Shaft” Mhlanga joue un orgue Hammond inspiré et très percussif. Le nom de Mhlanga est synonyme de grande musicalité au Zimbabwe et dans toute l’Afrique du Sud.

Mme Mhlanga a commencé à se produire à l’âge de 14 ans, et dès l’âge de 16 ans, elle a été très demandée comme soliste dans des chorales de gospel, puis a participé à des tournées avec des spectacles tels que “Jamboree Singers”, “Gospel Shout”, “Gumbo Ya Ya” (hommage à Jelly Roll Morton), le “Tribute to Ray Charles Show”, etc.
Elle a commencé sa carrière de concertiste solo en 2006 et a sorti deux albums solo très appréciés, “Black Music Classics” et “Indigo and Other Moods”, tout en restant toujours très demandée comme soliste invitée pour de nombreux projets.

Caroline Mhlanga s’est produite dans des salles de concert et dans de nombreux petits et grands clubs de jazz et caves de Francfort à Hambourg, à Paris, Cracovie, Maribor, Copenhague. Il s’agira ici de son premier spectacle à Bruxelles.
