Jeanfrançois Prins is a melodic storyteller with a unique voice on his instrument. His adult life has been focused on one thing: music. As a jazz guitarist, he has collaborated with many of the world’s jazz giants, and as a composer, arranger, musical director, and producer, he has thrived in projects ranging from jazz to world music, film scores, classical, avant-garde, pop, R’nB, and new music. Live and on recordings, Prins has been associated with such artists as Toots Thielemans, Ivan Lins, Lee Konitz, Eddie Gomez, Quincy Jones, Michel Legrand, Kenny Wheeler, Gary Bartz, the New York Voices, and many more…
An internationally sought-after leader, accompanist and guest soloist, having spent most of his career between New York City and Berlin, Jeanfrançois recently moved back to his roots: Brussels.
Having so far released seven albums as a leader, and about 50 albums as a guest soloist, he is featured in the book “The Great Jazz Guitarists – The Ultimate Guide” (Scott Yanow © 2013).
As a guest with Dutch virtuoso pianist Johan Clement’s trio, Prins plays repertoire from the Great American Songbook, jazz standards, as well as a few original compositions.
